A return has two costs: a restocking fee charged as a percentage of the item price, and round-trip shipping. Both come off your refund.

The restocking fee depends on how fast you file

  • Filed within 7 days of delivery — 10%
  • Filed from day 8 up to day 30 — 20%
  • Returned with no authorisation number — 25%

The gap between the first two tiers is the single easiest thing to control. On a $400 rug, filing on day 3 rather than day 10 keeps $40 that would otherwise go in fees.

Return shipping

Return shipping is charged at cost. We pass through exactly what the carrier bills us for both legs of the trip, with no markup.

  • Round-trip means both legs. The refund deduction covers getting the rug to you and getting it back to us, even if the order originally shipped free.
  • Your rate depends on your location. Because carrier rates vary by distance and zone, the exact amount is calculated for your address when you start the return.
  • Your own carrier: you are welcome to arrange your own return shipping instead. In that case only the outbound leg is deducted.

You choose the carrier when you start the return in the Returns Portal. We generate a UPS or FedEx label and email it to you, and the round-trip amount is shown before you confirm.

Orders that used a free expedited shipping code

If your order shipped on a free expedited shipping promotion, a return is refunded minus the actual round-trip expedited amount, which is higher than standard ground.

Exchanging one of those orders means covering all the exchange shipping yourself.

The cheaper alternative

If the hide is not right rather than not wanted, exchange it. Your first cowhide rug exchange includes a free return label, and you only pay a difference if the new hide costs more.
